Understand Your Illinois Congress Candidate 2014

By Lila Bryant

Illinois is among the states of the US that will vote this year. Everything possible has been done at this time; candidates have successfully gone through the preliminary elections, and all citizens know their Illinois congress candidate 2014. The Illinois primary elections took place on 18/3/2014, and every party elected representatives for the general elections in November.

The senatorial race will take place on November 4, 2014. Former office holder; Democratic and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin will be looking for another term in office. He, however, faces a stiff competition from Jim Oberweis. Both won their primaries comfortably, with Durbin winning unopposed.

In each of the eighteen districts, a representative was nominated to carry the flag for each of the parties. This article discusses individual contestants and the way they performed in the preliminary elections. It also attempts to analyze every individual candidate; their history, and possibility to win or lose.

In district number one; Rush Bobby will represent the Democrats against Jimmie Tillman. In the second district, Wallace Eric will represent the Republicans during the general elections against Kelly Robin who is an incumbent Democrat. Rayburn Charles and Marcus Lewis both lost their candidacy.

The next congressional district saw Sharon Brannigan beat the 2012 candidate to the eleventh congressional District of Illinois, Diane Harris to the title by garnering a total of 62.6% against 37.4% by Harris. She now faces incumbent Democrat, Daniel Lipinski in the forthcoming general elections.

The forth one has Hector Concepcion and incumbent Luis Gutierrez as representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties respectively. The year 2012 saw Hector eliminated from the contest, but that has not weakened him. Gutierrez, on his part, has vowed to defend his position with the agility of a lion. He vanquished other democrats: Jorge Zavala and Alexandra Eidinburg during the preliminaries.

In district number five, Republicans will have no representation in this general election. Michael Quigley and Wade Nancy are the only candidates in this contest. In district six, incumbent Republican Peter Roskam is expected to meet Michael Mason of the Democratic Party in what is presumably the fiercest in these elections. In the seventh one, Robert Bumpers will battle out with Danny Davis from the Democratic Party. Dan Roche made a decision to withdraw from this contest several days to the primary elections.

In district number eight, Lawrence Kaifesh will battle with Democrat incumbent Tammy Duckworth, while Susanne Atanus of the Republican Party will be up against incumbent Janice Schakowsky in district nine district. The tenth district will witness a battle between incumbent Brad Schneider of the Democrat Party and Robert J. Dold. Arlene Hickory was withdrawn from the race.

The eleventh district will be hosting a tough fight between Bill Foster and Darlene Senger. The later beat three other competitors after the disqualification of one candidate. Foster was not opposed. The twelfth district will vote for one among three candidates going for that position; Republican Michael Bost, Enyart William and Paula Bradshaw. The thirteenth district will also witness three contestants: Rodney Davis, Josh Dill and Ann Callis go for that position.

The race to the fourteenth district title is made up of incumbent Randy Hultgren and Anderson Dennis as the only pair of candidates during the general election. The fifteenth congressional position involves two competitors: Eric Thorsland and John Shimkus. Similarly, the sixteenth one brings together Randal Olsen and Adam Kinzinger in a fierce contest. The seventeenth district is an affair between Cheri Bustos and Bobby Schilling of the Democratic and Republican Parties respectively. The eighteenth position will experience a serious battle between Darrel Miller and Aaron Schlock.
