Facing The Truth Of A Parody Documentary

By Marci Nielsen

There are many people who look to various television programs to get factual information on what is taking place in the real world. However, not all of these programs are factual even though they might appear to be so at times due to the style that is used. This is how a parody documentary or comedy based on factual events is created, using the same elements but in a different way.

In order to do this, it is important for a viewer to know how to tell the difference between a show that is satirical and one that is based on truth. The one that is true is usually based on what is actually taking place at the time. There are usually journalists involved who make it their business to find the truth about the story they are researching.

They have to make sure that they are talking to the right people and reading the right documents that are available to them. They also have to make sure that their method of going about collecting this information is legal. If they are not doing their job in the right way, they can be sued or loose their job for breaking the law or not following the rules of their employer.

One has to realize that this extreme behavior that is witnessed in these humorous shows also takes some time to make. In this case, they have to make sure and study the person who is doing the show. They study the way to talk and their mannerisms. They also study the way in which they interact with other people that are in the program that is viewed by many people.

This is all done to create a show that is funny. Yet, many times flaws in the real show can be exaggerated in certain scenarios for an even more humorous effect. So a person watching might think something is funny at first, but then when they think a little bit deeper they might realize that there was a certain amount of truth in what was considered a joke.

Others are not so forgiving, however, because they might be the type to take everything seriously. So if someone is presenting on a show that resembles their favorite program which typically presents truthful stories, they might easily get offended. They may not understand why a person would see the joke in something they have taken seriously.

However, even if someone does not like what they see on the screen, there is still no doubt of the work that is put into these shows. It takes a great amount of talent to take something that is meant for one purpose and turn into something different while remaining true to the genre that is being copied. Only a few can really see the connection between multiple points of view.

This means they have to know the material they are working with. It takes a talented individual to create something that looks like the real thing but yet is different in so many ways. This is what causes so many people around the world to be amazed at what they see and entertained at the same time.
