Tips To Use When Making Your Save The Date Cards

By Joyce Richardson

Since a wedding is such a major milestone in one's life, you definitely want your main family and friends to attend. This will require that you notify them as early as possible about your event, so that they can make themselves available on the day of the wedding. This is essential for people who live far from the location of the wedding, as they have to prepare and put many things in place before they travel. Here are some top factors for you to have in mind as you make your save the date cards and send them out.

The earlier you inform people about your intended wedding, the better. Therefore, let them know way in advance. This will require that you send out the invites as soon as you have agreed on where the wedding will be held and the day of the event. Do not wait until too late to end the invites, otherwise it may just be best to just send out wedding invites.

You do not have to mail out the cards to everyone, just mail them to a select number of individuals. These are people that you do not want to miss the wedding. Also, send them out to people who you want to be on your bridal line up. It is also important to let your friends who stay far away know early, so that they can plan to travel to the event.

Do not include too much information, just what is necessary for the invitees to know. This includes the venue of the wedding, the day and who will be getting married. You will provide them with more details in the wedding card, so no need to include everything here. Make sure to address the person you are sending the invite to appropriately.

You can send out electronic invites or post them through mail. As popular as electronic invites are, posted mail is still handy. This is particularly if you are sending out invites to people who do not use computers or phones as much, such as the older generation. They may miss to see the invite if you just email them, so it is good to follow up an electronic invite with a paper invite.

It may not be advisable to add information about your gift registry on the card. Some people may view this in a negative light, since the main aim of the event is not to give gifts but to celebrate love. However, feel free to include a link to your wedding website.

You have the option of including photos or not including them in the card. You can include photos of you and your better half. The photos should be clear and professionally taken, so that they look good.

No need to panic in case you have erred on the invites. If you haven't sent them out yet, just make the correction but if the mistake is too glaring then you may just have to reprint them. If you have already mailed the invites, call each person you sent the invites too and let them know that there was an error on the invites and tell them the correct information.
