Choosing Restaurants For Weddings In Manhattan

By Allyson Burke

A wedding is one of the most exciting times in the lives of a young couple. One of the most important parts of any wedding that is often overlooked is the venue for the outside functions of the wedding. For those in the Big Apple, choosing a venue is made even more complicated by living in the worlds most alive city. Choosing restaurants for weddings in Manhattan does not have to be hard though if you put a little thought into it well ahead of time.

The important thing to remember is that most of the very popular venues will be expensive and that they tend to be booked up to a year or more in advance of the date that they are needed. Don't despair though if you have missed out on the chance to have a popular "dream" restaurant for your needs. There are a lot of great alternatives that are hidden gems just waiting for your phone call.

A major advantage that you may find with booking ahead of time, in addition to having a better chance at getting the date you want, is that you may get a better rate for the rental or a better price on the menu. You may also be asked to provide a non-refundable deposit to secure your date. This is common and is in the best interest of the venue to provide your a guaranteed date slot.

If there is no party room, pay the extra to rent out the venue for the evening. It is very awkward for the guests to feel like they are on display for the other patrons of the restaurant while at your event. The extra cost is well worth the comfort and enjoyment of your loved ones in attendance.

Enquire as to whether you can provide your own music for your rehearsal dinner. The use of music that is special to the couple or to the families will make for a much more intimate and memorable evening. If they cannot allow for this, then ask if the music in the space could be turned off completely for your rental.

If the venue offers a catering menu then take advantage of that instead of letting your guests choose from the regular menu. This will help control the costs that you have for the event. If there is a bar on site ask if a drinks package can be included, or better have your guests pay for their own hard drinks and you cover the wine.

If the location that you have chosen is not well known then make sure that you provide your guests with good directions and clear information on parking. Ask who the venue recommends for parking and then make arrangements to prepay for your guests and send the parking pass along with the invitation.

Choosing restaurants for weddings in Manhattan does not have to be a stressful thing. With careful planning and forethought, choosing the right venue for your needs will be easy. The important thing to remember is that the most popular venues are booked up to a year in advance or more so be willing to get creative and most of all enjoy this once in a lifetime even in your lives.
