Developed countries have been greatly known for helping the less fortunate countries, the so called third world countries; they help the countries in different perspectives including helping them build infrastructure, importing modern technology, loans, grants and donations. Different organizations are governed by leaders from different walks of life and caliber who have different traits. Greedy and corrupt leaders sell these donated clothes to people who ship them to different African countries which are popular for their taste of cheap commodities. Africa not only attracts these greedy leaders but also attracts investors who major into different commodities which are sold at a pocket-friendly price.

Africa appreciates less expensive clothes which are brought at a cheaper price and later sold, the rate of which the clothes are sold higher but affordable to the common man. These clothes have a very high demand and everyone likes to have a portion of the goodies the so-called donated clothes. They are later sold in open air markets which people select them in a bent posture.

The second hand clothes business brings more consequences to the country than it brings good tidings though income is earned by the government through revenue. Workers who depend on cash paid to them by their employer in the textile industries lose their job since the market is flooded by second hand clothes which compete with the new clothes hence the new clothes lack market. This causes a major blow to the economy which is geared by revenue and income from these industries.

Africa is a blessed continent rich in minerals and other farm products which are exported to the developed countries hence gaining income to the farmers and government. There are other valuable items that bring forth income despite the fact that they are not popular; they include garments made in Africa. In Kenya, there are Maasai- Shukas which brings up the bigger picture of the rich pastoralists culture and are exported abroad to earn income. When the market is dominated by these clothes the local ones loose market.

Workers who are directly employed by the textile industries either directly or indirectly end up having no job since the market for the local clothes is diminishing at a very fast rate. When the loss is incurred they end up being beggars and robbers. They become a security threat to the country since many cases occur of people getting robbed.

Firms which donate these clothes are like Salvation Army make things clear in their website that they do sell these clothes for the good will. Money collected in this trade does help greatly for the smooth running of the organization. It is used to pay the workers and help in shipping of the clothes to Africa and other continents.

Third world countries governments should come up with measures of defending the local textile industries which employ people in large numbers. The measures include taxing the shipment of second hand clothes at a higher rate that will make their price more expensive than the local made clothes and less taxing of local clothes. With this, the economy will stabilize and a faster rate.
