Does A Muslim Matchmaking Service Benefit Women

By Kenneth Patterson

Most people have wandered through the very shady world of online dating, and as a rule women have simply avoided being a part of it. Women have mostly found that the men on these sites are married, or at the very least living with someone, and as such many of the female profiles on them are not real. However, a particular group of females have found good fortune on a Muslim matchmaking service.

In the religion of Islam, marriage is held as a cornerstone of all civilization. As such, these sites are not the usual experiments in hook-ups or even casual dating that most of us are familiar with. Marriage is always the anticipated outcome when these people meet up.

Many followers of this faith are largely isolated in Western society. In a world where they might not even want coworkers and friends to know their religious practice, meeting others is nearly impossible. As a result, the families of young people have taken an all-too-active role in helping their younger members meet potential mates.

Because of the seriousness of marriage in their culture, a new online oasis has been created. This allows young people to make connections outside family, with people their parents are likely to approve of. Not only that, but it has created a world where women are able to have greater power over who they might want to spend time, and possibly the rest of their lives with.

Unfortunately, the parents and grandparents are still very skeptical about the online method of meeting people. There are certainly dangers inherent to such a meeting, and both women and men are taking a risk. The truth is that when people meet online they do not truly know who they are speaking to.

Safety is always going to be a concern when people meet online, and these dating sites are no less risky than any others when it comes to that fateful first meeting. The Internet allows a person to be dishonest about who they are and what they intend in a variety of ways. However, with new services such as video chatting, these dangers are somewhat lessened by the fact that they get to meet before their meeting.

Westerners who follow Islam have really no other solid ways to meet others of their faith. The same is true of Jewish people, and any Christian families who also share the perspective that any potential mates must follow their same spiritual path. These websites have made it possible for people to meet real human beings without trying to narrow down search criteria on sites already known for being sketchy.

In a society where women have few opportunities to really choose for themselves, such sites allow them to have a say in whom they might marry. Many Islamic women have never even given much thought to the sort of man they might prefer. However, such services allow these women a vote in how their own lives turn out, and increases their chances at happiness.
