Beliefs And Theories About The Second Coming

By Joseph Morris

In some cases, Christians believe Jesus is still awaiting to return to earth while others believe the savior has already returned. In either case, the event is most often known as the Second Coming. While possible, there is no scientific evidence which indicates the event to be a forthcoming or prior event.

The two basic beliefs in this regard are that Jesus will either return loudly in this manner, or as a thief in the night. For, both of these accounts are reflected in the biblical books of Luke, Matthew and Revelation. As such, there are Christians whom believe the kingdom of god is a place on earth shared by believers while others believe it is a different spiritual plane to which Jesus will take followers during the rapture.

In a recent article, it has been suggested that all three elements and theories could be true. For, it is possible that the Lord could first come in secret, then appear publicly and take all the followers whom have been sharing in the kingdom of god to a heavenly home. All of which mirror the activities of the birth of the Jesus in secret, dying on the cross in public and ascending back to heaven.

One of the most well known stories related to the 2nd coming is that of a poem by William Butler Yates by the same title. For, the piece indicates an event in which Jesus returns to earth in a powerful light. In addition, as the poem was written some time ago indicating the event was drawing nigh, it leads a number of individuals to wonder whether or not such an actual event might actually ever take place.

Christians of different sects and denominations have different beliefs as to when and how Christ will appear. For some, it is as a mortal man whom will walk among the living before taking followers home. Whereas, others see the rapture as shown in these paintings and poem in which Jesus appears as a spiritual figure in the sky and raptures followers whom then ascend into heaven.

While some Christians believe Christ will return in Spirit, others believe the Lord will appear in the flesh. For, there are both accounts reflected in the Bible. Whereas, there are others whom believe that Jesus has already returned to earth and walks among those still living today.

As Christians live a faith based lifestyle and believe in things seen and unseen, all aspects of the religion including the birth, crucifixion, ascension, apocalypse and rapture must be taken on faith. While this is the case, there are a number of Catholics whom claim to have witnessed miracles such as the stigmata symbolism having occurred on priests or tears pouring from statues of Mother Mary.

As Christianity has always been a faith based religion, there are researchers, scientists and theologians whom continue to search for proof as to the existence of Christ. While some have been found, there has been no viable scientific proof that the items were related to Jesus. As such, Christians remain hopeful that the grail and other artifacts could still be found.
