The Facts About Manhattan Cremation Services

By Beryl Dalton

Cremation has always provided a fast and relatively cheaper method of resting your beloved one in peace. Many families are fast adopting this service which is considered cheaper. A typical process takes around 2 to 3 hours to complete. However the time between different people vary depending on the size of the deceased. The typical Manhattan cremation containers include cardboard trays, wood caskets or canvas body bags.

The percentage that uses caskets for this process is very low; only approximately 15 percent. This means that the rest 85 percent use a less expensive container mainly a cardboard container or a canvas body bag. The practice involves exposing the body and the container to very high heat which burns them down to remains called cremains. A normal body of a deceased will give approximately 6 pounds of the cremains. These ashes are grey in color.

Various funeral homes and crematories in the Manhattan city are offering this service. Funeral homes may either do it themselves or engage the services of a crematory. Contrary to other beliefs, it is important to note that this process just replicates the exact same process which a buried body will undergo over time. A buried body will decompose over time and become ashes.

A memorial process can be accompanied by all the services that a normal traditional funeral service would have. A memorial service can be carried out before or after the process. If it is done before, then the deceased is taken to the cemetery or sea directly after being cremated. However if you deem to really reduce costs, you can do the process without any memorial service. This is known as Direct Cremation.

Considering direct cremation would be the most appropriate economical option. This method is the least expensive among all. It will facilitate the disposition of the deceased immediately without having to put them in the morgue for days. This will save you a considerable amount of fees which would have otherwise catered for the morgue charges.

The process in this case is simple. After the demise, the deceased is taken from the place of death and taken to the funeral service location. Here the preparations for the cremation take place. No viewing or visitation is required in this case hence there is no need for embalming and other body preparations. The relevant paperwork like death certificates is completed and then the body is cremated.

Renting a casket would be a great consideration to make. Instead of purchasing one, it is better to hire one from a funeral home considering that the casket will be redundant after the service since it is not cremated with the deceased. An alternative container will be used as mentioned above.

If you are looking to save money but still get quality services, search around for the best Manhattan funeral homes and crematories. Compare their prices and choose the most affordable. You can dispose cremains at the sea or cemetery.
