Reasons For Conspiracy Theory Parodies

By Mattie Knight

Conspiracy theories have always been in existence since time in memorial. We all love to talk about what other people are conspiring to do or have done. The world today is full of crazy notions and stories of what certain powerful governments, groups and cults are conspiring to do. They have been woven around some serious allegations and accusations. While these some may seem harmless, they have serious social consequences on the society. With all this, indifferent and almost extreme stories doing the rounds, we all need the laughs of conspiracy theory parodies to even out the odds.

Recent research has discovered that these theories have a bad negative effect on the social behavior of people. It has been revealed that persons exposed to various speculation and conspiracy spin offs react negatively to certain related projects and activities. For example, those suspicious of the government tend not to be involved in politics and do not vote. The same applies to those exposed to climate change or vaccination conspiracies, as they tend to shun any related initiatives.

Conjecture is quite subversive. It undermines the any confidence in the set positions and projects set to help improve the living conditions of citizens. With levels of suspicion growing, it becomes hard to initiate and push certain contentious policies even though they might be genuine. This leads to loss of confidence in the institutions of power.

These suppositions have a tendency to cause feelings such as pity, powerlessness and hopelessness. They feel that they are weak and cannot change anything. As a result, they become distant and disengaged in national politics and the social fabric. They become resigned to fate and believe that certain only a certain class of people have the power to rule. Research shows that these speculations have the power to influence people even without their awareness.

Conspiracies can result in the conception of crooked governments and administrative institutions. Perhaps the most infamous case in point is the Nazi regime that spread propaganda that the Jews were secretly extending their world influence and eventual rule. This resulted in widespread detestation and disgust in parts of Europe claiming the lives of millions of innocent Jews in the holocaust.

In recent times, conspiracy and propaganda has been used to spread the interest of western nations on the world. The fight against terrorism and al Qaeda networks gave rise to pervasive fear among nation. In effect, this gave rise to the fascist and strict security policies. These policies have been discriminatory in nature against a certain skin type and religious association.

These theories have resulted in several arms races between governments most notably during the cold war. Suspicion among nations has led to hostility and the rush to secure borders. This has led to the creation of weapons of mass destruction in the anticipation of war or attacks. The world is no stranger to such weapons like the nuclear bomb that almost destroyed Japan. Unfortunately, most of these weapons end up in the hands of terrorists and war criminals.

Conspiracy theories have caused tension among states. They are at the center of most social and political debates globally. They tend to start needless arguments instead of mature talks. Hence the importance of more parodies in the world.
