Deciding On A Conservative Talk Radio Show

By Richard Johnson

Most people have heard of programs like this because there are so many of them out there. It is easy to ascertain what a person's political views or even moral beliefs are if they choose to blast shows like this on their stereo day in and day out. There can be pros and cons to listening to a conservative talk radio show, and it's good to keep both in mind.

People ought to know that these shows are not about covering news in an unbiased and fair way. One should know just from the genre alone that this is the type of programming that is going to have views leaning pretty hard to the right. This can help someone like a new listener better understand where the host is coming from when taking their political and philosophical views into consideration.

There are so many different types of shows in this genre to choose from. No matter what your particular point of view, different shows of all ideologies have emerged and grown in popularity. Libertarian shows are quite common as it is a collection of philosophies that many Americans identify with.

It is amazing to think about how much publicly broadcasted programming has changed over the years. In 1949, the Federal Communications Commission introduced something called the fairness doctrine, which allowed the FCC to decide what was unbiased and what wasn't, and anyone with a broadcast license had to follow their rules. While this might seem like a good thing to keep news sources unbiased, it actually did more to hinder the truth than protect it, and was removed in 1987.

There was nothing more dangerous on a broadcasted program during the Fairness Doctrine than to have a host who was outspoken and controversial. Nowadays, the very opposite is true for these types of shows. This is because stations don't have to worry about getting in trouble with the FCC anymore.

Those who love to listen to shows like this but hate having to listen to it at a certain time every day or hate missing a show ought to consider using podcasts. Many programs are also released in this way. This allows the listener to have their favorite shows on demand.

There are many things that have led to the rise of nationalism in the US. A major event was the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. Many people decided they would do their part by rallying around their government and everything that they believe it stands for.

The controversies that have surrounded many of the hosts of these types of shows have largely been driven by beliefs that are at the heart of their political point of view. This is what drove many of these individuals to make misogynistic, racist, or xenophobic remarks that have ultimately gotten them into trouble. Hosts of these programs have lost sponsorship and viewership for saying things that many people fundamentally disagree with.
