The First Edition Book of Mormon contains sacred texts revealed by an angel Moroni to a man named Joseph Smith. The texts were first written on the golden Nephi plates and then translated by Smith. Part of the scripture focuses on morality, church norms and practices and going to heaven for believers. The script basically shows how people can better their lives through religion. It is written in chapters which are dictated to scribes in a period more than two years.

This first edition was printed in 1830. But since this time, a number of editions have been written. Currently, this manuscript is accepted by members of the church of latter day saints (LDS) and the Community of Christ.

Issues addressed by this manuscript include cultural, economic, political and social matters. The author notes that the American nation is a blessed nation and is an exception of other countries. Therefore the citizens of the country are entitled to certain privileges.

In this edition, there is a teaching that states it is compulsory for a person to fall before getting up again. According to the writing, apostasy is a necessary requirement for the coming of God. This fact is also agreed upon by other religions. Also according to the writer, when Isaiah the Prophet talked about whisper out of the dust, the prophet was referring to the Book of Mormon which was to one day be published.

Constant study is needed so as to be able to understand the different concepts. At times, group study will help a lot. It is always advisable to discuss with other members of the Mormon fraternity, core issues that relate to the faith.

It is obvious that the process of compilation and publishing the manuscript took some time. This is because of the numerous processes that took place behind the scenes. Those people who were behind the process are some of the most important individuals in the history of Mormons. But there have been several corrections made to this book most relating to grammatical and numerical mistakes made during the process of translation.

The book also talks about Messiah who is Jesus Christ the son of God. Certain sections touch on the holy Trinity that believes in the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit as being one. It also covers the birth of Jesus Christ by the Virgin Mary, his childhood, ministry, his death and resurrection and ultimately his second coming. To reinforce the messages for believers, visions and prophesies have been utilized.

However this publication has not been without controversies. Many people have criticized it because of the stand it makes on several matters. But other people have positive opinions about it and they feel it is a gift to humanity. They believe this sacred text can change the lives of believers in many ways because of the inspired text focusing common life issues. Either way it is always good to tolerate the different views of people regarding this publication.

To the Christian circles to which First Edition Book of Mormon is addresses to, they find it a manual to guide them in their daily living. This is because it addresses various important issues touching life. In order to understand more of the Church of LDS, one ought to read this edition.
