Historians, book collectors and libraries all over the world are always after the first edition Book of Mormon. The copy contains original recording by the author or translator with clear indications that its origin is New England. These revelations were witnessed by a number of people, some of whom have signed affidavits. Smith enlisted the services and assistance of Martin Harris to complete the translations. Harris is said to have disappeared with the first 168 pages after selling his land to clear printing cost. The book was completed and ready for sale in March of 1830 after Cowdery Oliver stepped in to fill the gap left by Martin.
