A Brief Look At Spiritual Romance Novels

By Christa Jarvis

When it comes to religious novels, there are often characters based on the Christian faith. In many cases. Religious novels are nothing more than a ploy to gain other believers. Whereas, most Spiritual Romance Novels tend to be more all inclusive and include positive aspects from many different spiritual paths which may include Christian, but is often inclusive of other faiths.

For some, spirituality has nothing to do with religion, for others everything. Depending on the type of story, characters can drift away and back towards God as part of issues within any given relationship. While fiction, these novels often have an avid sense of belief and are often written to spread the so-called word of God.

While most titles related to seeking a spiritual path of enlightenment are non-fiction, a great number of Christian based writings by Christian authors are fictional though some attempt to spread a message of peace, love, understanding and God. Unfortunately, it is not always clear this is where some stories are headed until well into the storyline.

Titles like Jonathan Livingston Seagull, The Spiritual Laws of Success, Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah and others are quite popular among Comparative Theologians worldwide. While, a number of Christian based authors only read the Bible and other publications related to the faith. Regardless as to whether one holds the same beliefs as an author, some novels can often still be quite insightful, inspirational and intriguing.

These and other titles can go a long way in helping individuals find a path with which one relates. While in the past, individuals often visited a number of different churches and faiths in order to do so, the internet has now opened up a whole new world when it comes to learning about different religious and spiritual paths. Whether that be within the Christian faith, or a part of a larger neo-pagan identity, generally these books have something to offer anyone who takes the time read one.

Just one more reason why having an open mind when reading publications in any genre is a good idea. For the most part, readers do not try and find out personal information related to an author, readers just read and enjoy the story regardless of differences between the story and real life. While this is the case, should a title try to force an individual into any belief system, then it is often good to stop reading and start soul searching before following suit.

Books have and always will be a great escape from reality. While some have religious tones, there are also secular romance stories for those who do not subscribe to any particular belief system, faith or religion. Of course, for those who do subscribe to a particular path, it is important to realize that the world is a big place with a lot of ideologies. As such, it's important to always maintain an open mind when reading publications whether in the religious, spiritual or other genres.

One of the best places to peruse different titles in the religious or spiritual genre is online. There are a number of different free fiction and non-fiction e-books, many which can be accessed for free. When wishing to read reviews before taking on a title, the Goodreads website is a good place to search and read a variety of reviews and testimonials from other readers.
