College Students Love Doing Plays In Ga

By Roseann Hudson

People who visit the state of Georgia are always looking for ways to entertain themselves. They can find great plays in Ga if they are able to visit Columbus State University or the Springer Opera House. "Romeo And Juliet, " "Hamlet, " "Macbeth, " "My Fair Lady, " "The Importance of Being Earnest, " "Equus" and "Death of A Salesman" are some of the major productions they have to offer.

One male student could not wait to star in the production of "Hamlet" since this was his favorite play written by William Shakespeare. He found the story to be very interesting and all of the characters were quite three dimensional. His teacher had been preparing him for the major role for a full semester and he was ready to take the stage with full force.

He had already performed in the production of "Romeo And Juliet" the previous year and found the role of Romeo to be quite unique. The student thinks that all of the other pupils should become involved within the theatre since it gives them the chance to do something that is totally intriguing. In order to prepare for the role of "Hamlet" he made sure to read the actual play before looking at the stage script.

He considers himself to be a very serious actor who can tackle any role with style. Luckily he will be able to show off his talents at The River Center which has been around for a short period of time. The University decided that their drama and music students were special and they deserved a grand building for their performances. Every person around town knows that the Springer Opera House was the place to attend years ago.

All of the professors at Columbus State University are thrilled to have the former Juliet now portray another great character. A certain young lady is now taking on the part of Lady Macbeth. She hopes that everyone will get the chance to see her performance since this is a forceful character.

Sometimes these students will go on to major theatre and film jobs once they have graduated from college. The Springer Opera House has also put on many of these performances but their actors were always slightly older and were just performing for sheer fun. One lady who is well over sixty has done many productions for the Springer and she is proud of her work.

She knows that she will always be the best Eliza Doolittle that ever walked across the Springer Opera House stage. She enjoys pretending that she is Audrey Hepburn once she is upon this magnificent stage. This woman can relate to Eliza in every way possible since she grew up on the poor side of town.

"Oedipus" is one production that is very immoral for this Christian state. Everyone knows that this is the story in which a man kills his father and weds his mother. Columbus State University is considering turning this story into one of their future stage events.
