Understanding A Christian Meditation Webinar

By Cynthia Patterson

When it comes to faith, each individual often walks a different path. For those of the Christian faith, there are often many different sects within the religion. As such, while some may find a Christian Meditation Webinar beneficial, there are others who believe the Eastern based practice is in no way related to the Christian faith.

For those who do believe in meditation as well as prayer, this type programming can often be quite beneficial in helping one clear the mind of negative thoughts. In a recent webinar, a well known author and pastor explained the difference between prayer and meditation. For example, while prayer is often either a request or giving thanks, meditation is learning how to be still and respect the presence of God in moment.

In order to experience the practice and all it has to offer, one has to better understand the process. In most cases, it is a practice used to clear the mind so that one can relax and live in the moment. For some, maintaining consciousness is essential. Whereas, others often try to escape into a realm in which nothing is everything and everything nothing.

As clearing the mind can often be difficult, especially in such a busy world, there are aids which one can use in helping do so. For example, deep breathing, counting or focusing on a specific light such as a candle flame can often help one eliminate thoughts from entering the mind. In the case of deep breathing, one can often think "I Am, " on the inhale and "Relaxed, " on exhale. Whereas, counting backwards from 100 down to 0 can often be a great way to block thoughts from entering the mind.

While the main focus is often to clear the mind, there are also meditative techniques that only work to help an individual relax and live in the moment. Whereas, there are other techniques which work to help an individual find compassion, faith and peace through actions of forgiveness. In most cases, all forms of meditation contribute to better overall health and well being through helping individuals relax while eliminating stress.

For some, the practice can often be life saving, especially when used to alleviate anxiety and depression. In addition, when used to clear negative emotions such as bigotry, hatred, homophobia and anger, one can grow to know oneself and others better through the process. As a result, those having difficulty in relationships and friendships often find it easier to overcome issues in the future.

When it comes to meditating for Christians, most often individuals focus on issues related to church, faith and forgiveness. In addition, those in the ministry often find the practice a great way to prepare for delivering a sermon. Whereas, many also use the practice while designing, developing and writing sermons on a regular basis.

Ultimately, each individual must decide on which techniques work best at any given moment and time. For Christians, most often the practice accompanies prayer on a regular basis. Whether meditation takes place at home or during worship, it can often be a beneficial aspect to an ongoing curriculum of prayer, Sunday school, worship and Bible study.
