A freshly cut flower regardless of its nature seems to also appeal to the naked eye for all people. There is a drawback to its life and this is the fact that it cannot last for long as one would prefer it to last. The added sugar acts as a source of energy for the flora and they can last for a longer period. Moreover, one can add floral preservative to the flower to increase its life span.

For special occasion planned for in the future, the flora can start being preserved early enough through a method known as pressing. The process entails drying the floral parts for a given period of time from three days to a week. The flora then can be set in a frame and presented in a manner requested by a client. Removing dead leaves is paramount and ensuring that your flora are not set in direct sunlight will further preserve their life span.

Once you receive the flora, make sure that you shed off the dead parts to avoid further decay. The other precaution is to keep the gift you receive away from sunshine. This will keep them safe from losing water and hence drying off.

Flower preservation is not a new concept and has been applied for a number of years starting in the olden days. The primary method applied for preserving the flora during the olden days was drying. This helped in maintaining the stature of the flower.

There are a number of ways that can be used in drying plants so as to preserve them. One of the most common ways is hanging the plants upside down when they are in bunches. Tying them at the base usually helps during the process. They should be placed in a warm and dry area to lose their moisture slowly and away from direct sunlight.

There are given chemical compounds that can be used to enhance the drying process, glycerin is one of the chemical compounds applied. However, one of the greatest drawbacks of using this is that it works better on particular flower types only

Pressing as seen earlier is considered as one of the most ancient ways of drying a flower to get them ready for a particular occasion. This form of drying where the flower parts are placed between two items such as sheets or foil paper helps the flowers in retaining their shape and color.
