With Budget Uncontested Divorce GA Marriages Can Be Dissolved Cheaply

By Carolyn Davis

There was a time when divorces were frowned upon and when divorced people were deemed to be socially unacceptable. Of course those days are long gone. Nowadays divorces are common. In fact, long term marriages have become the exception rather than the rule. Divorces nevertheless still cause agony and pain for most people. It is an emotional issue that is not easy to deal with. With a budget uncontested divorce GA couples can at least make sure that their separation is finalized as cheaply as possible.

It is an unfortunate fact that divorces are so often typified by spite, bitterness and conflict. These types of divorces are almost always contested because neither partner is willing to be reasonable and to actively try to achieve an amicable separation. These divorces are hideously expensive and the court proceedings are open for public scrutiny. In most cases both partners will end up much poorer.

Dissolving a marriage is not a simple matter of two people no longer living together. There are numerous issues involved. If there are children, decisions need to be made about custody and ongoing support. The estate has to be divided and all joint accounts and savings will have to be shared. In contested cases decisions about all these issues are made by the court but in cases that are not contested the divorcing couple can reach agreement by themselves.

Even the most reasonable couples will need some professional help in reaching a final agreement on just how the marriage will be dissolved. Marriages are governed by many laws and any agreement must adhere to all of these laws. The rights of every party involved, especially the rights of the children, must be honoured at all times. Most divorcing couples hire a lawyer to help them in this regard.

It is, in fact, not even necessary to hire a lawyer. Lawyers are expensive but there are also counsellors specially trained to help divorcing couples reach agreement on all the issues related to divorces. Counsellors do not charge half as much as an experienced lawyer but they are also experienced in helping divorcing couples to negotiate a fair and legal final agreement.

Paying just one lawyer or, even better, a counsellor is certainly much cheaper than contested divorces, but they are still paid for their time. To save even more money, it is therefore necessary to take up as little time as possible from these professionals. Prudent couples can achieve this by privately reaching agreement on just about all issues related to their separation. This will leave the lawyer or counsellor with nothing to do but to present the agreement to court.

Apart from the money that will be saved, uncontested divorces offer many other important benefits. Divorces can be extremely traumatic, especially for children and especially if the entire case is fought out in open court. If both partners are reasonable, the children will not suffer as much. Then there is the very important advantage of the process not being open to public scrutiny.

It is sad that so many marriages simply do not last. There are many reasons for this, including the increasing pressure of modern living, the ease with which divorces can be obtained and a major decline in the moral fibre of society as a whole. If a marriage cannot be saved, the least the divorcing couple could do is to avoid a protracted and expensive process.
