How African Leaders Can Effectively Use Donations For Africa

By Cynthia Snyder

Africa is recognized as one of the continents in the world. People love Africa because of the fact they have been blessed with by nature. Unfortunately, the place still has the most poorly fed individuals because only a few are rich while the poor are absolutely poor. Several world organizations have however tried to improve their lot by making donations for Africa. The packages they get can go a long way to change lives if used effectively.

For example, power supply in the region still cannot be compared to what is obtainable in developed countries. Many countries in Africa still have an epileptic power supply despite the huge donations they get. This has hampered the growth of their economy in no small measure.

Tasking the leaders to provide jobs with the money they get would be fine. If much of the money is used for the good of the common man, there would be fewer cases of unemployment. This can happen by building industries, opening markets and improving the standard of education in the country.

Although Africa currently ranks high among those living in extreme poverty and hunger, the situation can change if the money that is made available is being used to support agriculture in large-scale form. There are many people in the affected countries who are interested in farming but they need to be supported with funds so that they can expand. This expansion can also create more jobs and food for the country's populace.

The healthcare sector is another place where much work has to be done. Unfortunately, most of them receive medical treatment in foreign lands so their attention is not drawn to the poor facilities available in their countries. If they are reminded that not everyone can afford to take a flight to the developed countries let alone paying for the medical bills, it is possible that they will begin to do things the right way.

Another way to use the money they get judiciously is by improving the level of sanitation in their states. Many African countries need a lot of work done in this area and a lot of improvement will take place if machines that can change wastes to raw materials are obtained. By doing this, nylon bags that usually litter the streets will be reduced.

The absence of infrastructure in African countries has made so many people emigrate. Those of them that depend on electricity, water, good roads and other necessary factors for their business to flourish have nothing to lean on when they are not available so they find their way out. The reverse would be the case if some of the money given to the leaders are used to make life more bearable.

Since most of these grants come consistently, the government in these countries can use it to raise the pay of workers. This will help them work harder and thus improve the wealth of the country. Those who are dependent on the workers whose income has been raised will also have a cause to smile because of this. Even if it cannot be done across all the sectors of the economy, the government can start with just a few areas.
