What It's Like In Same Sex Married Life

By Cathy Mercer

The same sex married life is slowly being welcomed in different societies around the world, especially in cultures that are open and embracing to individuality and true identity. Same sex marriage is also known as gay marriage where the couple has the similar gender identity, or what could be called biological sex. This notion is undergoing a lot of legalization processes and is slowly coming under way to success.

There are two sides to gay marriage since a lot of people still oppose this notion. However, there are certain reasons why it should be promoted as legal all around the world. For one, every single person has the right to be with anyone that they love, and to be with them if they should desire it. It is not an illegal act to express love and commitment to your beloved, so it shouldn't hold any problem for gay marriages either.

Several benefits are given to straight couples that pertain to healthcare or insurance. These benefits should be easily translated to gay couples as well because it is their right to have access to these types of benefits, no matter what kind of marriage they are in. If homosexual marriages are not allowed in some states, their state takes from the couple these specific benefits.

Whatever values society upholds today are molded by the people themselves. Therefore, the institution of marriage should change as the people themselves change. By this time, marriage should be redefined because people have come to accept certain values and changes in this society.

If gays and lesbians are denied of the right to marry the ones they love, they are somehow put in an inferior category because they are the minority. Denying them of this right only means that they do not deserve this right, but there is no quantifiable reason for them not to marry their partner. Everyone should be entitled to marrying the partner that they desire to marry.

Adoption is a very noble act that should be encouraged to all couples. However, it is a very difficult process that requires a lot of work and patients. Gay couples, by their very definition, cannot produce their own offspring, so adoption is usually the option for them. Adoption is a harder process for gay couples mainly because some couples are not wed, which makes it a problem for child care services.

It is also a known fact that marriage provides a lot of stability to the mental and physical well being of the person. Denying gay people to this fact will only increase the likelihood of depression and psychological disorders. People who are allowed to be with the people they love are ultimately happier with their lives in the long run.

Same sex married life should not pose as a problem to anyone. If you do not believe in this notion, it is no grounds for the state to prevent these people that do believe in the institution of gay marriage. A person's capability to love and be good citizens does not and will never depend on merely their sexual orientation.
