Tips On Cleaning Glass Pipes

Having glass pipes which have not yet been cleaned for a long time can have a lot of dirt which have already hardened. However, it is still possible to the cleaning by yourself. Here are some tips to do it in a simple way.

Removal of the particles that have lodge inside the thing is the first step to do and this is through turning the opening down and tapping it gently. Flushing the inside part with running water will also cause the removal of any stubborn dirt that has not yet been taken off. Careful holding of the wet object is important so that it would not be dropped or be slipped.

Alcohol is the usual substance use in cleaning this type of thing and the most tested one is just the common rubbing alcohol. Prepare a plastic bag or even the sandwich bag which can be resealed and let it be filled with alcohol which is just enough for the bottom part. Ascertain that the amount is capable in submersing the entire object when it is already placed inside.

Place the bag and the thing in the microwave but be sure that is properly covered with the solution and then set the timer to ten seconds. Wait until the alcohol will boil and be cautious because this would happen so rapidly. Avoid heating it for a very long time to prevent melting of the plastic and breaking of the glass.

Open the microwave, take out the bag and shake it so that the alcohol will go into the tubing to remove any remaining particles inside. Do not take the thing out yet because it still needs soaking over the night to loosen up any hardened debris. Make sure that it is sealed properly and have it soaked for eight up to ten hours.

When the thing has already been soaked for the required time, taking it out of the bag follows which should then be rinsed well with running water. Moreover, sometimes there will remain stubborn dirt which usually happens when cleaning is not regularly done. To take them off, get some pipe cleaners or some cotton balls which can also do the job.

Dry the object thoroughly before using it again to complete the entire cleaning process. Another way of doing it however includes that us of boiling water for individuals who do not prefer the use of alcohol. Obtain a small pot filed with an enough volume to cover the object and have it be placed on the stove.

Reduce the heat to allow the boiling water to simmer so that the thing can then be safely placed while ensuring that it is properly submerged. But before that, be certain that all the extra and unnecessary particles inside have already been removed ahead. Have it be simmered for twenty to thirty minuted.

Avoid putting the glass pipes in boiling water when those things are still cold because it will only result to their shattering but warm them instead with your hands. The boiling method if used will also result to the spreading of a strong odor to your entire home. Washing the object before using is very important.
