The world is full of pretty, pretty, things that instantly beautify anything and anyone that gets near them. One very obvious example is the existence of fabulous gems and precious stones. These little sparkling pebbles are in almost every field, from the straightforward industrial world to the glitzy glam that encompasses the world of fashion. For years people have been drawn to these little stones and set out to turn them into almost anything, including rhinestone word pins.

Though they are more obviously known as rhinestones, sometimes they also go by the names diamante, paste, even strass, in some European countries. It is a rock that is made to pose as something resembling a diamond, as the real ones are really hard to come by. The name rhinestone got stuck in them as they are believed to be first found in large deposits along the banks of the river Rhine.

Even with their pretty and really eye catchy appearance, these little rocks were never really popular among people. They only shot to fame when a certain Alsatian jeweller took notice of them during the 18th century and used them for his creations. Since then, these diamond mimics have never left the spotlight.

These can even fool many into believing that they are actually more expensive than they actually are. These gems are often valued on different scales. The first deals with the brilliance, wherein lead crystal types rank at the top. The second deals with the size, and then the maker. At present, the most valuable are the ones made by swarovski.

Generally, these little stones are used for a whole lot of things, but are utilized mainly for fashion. They are widely used in costumes, to add to that air of affluence that befits a wealthy character in a play or movie or even television series. They are also widely used in gowns, especially in bodices of wedding gowns.

They are even used widely for a lot of very odd uses. For example, they are new favorites when it comes to nail arts. Whereas before, glitters and matte coats were the thing, rhinestones have come and completely taken over this field of fashion, too. Sometimes, some people even attach them at choice positions to enhance a tattoo design. Unconventional, yes, but one can only accept that it is beautiful in a very surprising way.

Of course, they will never be snubbed in the glittering world of jewelries. Rhinestones are a staple in almost everything. They add to the multitude of sparkles in a tiara. They turn a simple clutch to one that is very much drool worthy. They are turned into almost everything. They are made into earrings, necklaces, bangles, studded in wristwatch faces, pinned on as brooches and decorative pins.

They are also being turned into brooches and cute pins. Today, there even exists a new form of pin design that is more commonly known as word pins. These pins form words, like names or virtues or just about anything. What makes them a favorite of many is the fact that each word is glittering due to the presence of gems outlining every letter.

They can also be utilized as a glamorous form of advertising. One can use it to promote worthy cause. They can also be used to promote a private group, even a company. Their elegant glow on a plain surface should be enough to make one look, and the fact that they are in the form of jewelry makes them instantly unique and hard to forget.
